Mr. Tigs Bucket List

Tigger, aka Mr. Tigs, Tig Tog, Tig Tog the Flig Flog, Fligger, Tiggie, Tigs, Pooper, Poops and ocassionally when he's being a snob and ignoring us "Jerk Dog".

During my senior year of high school my mom and I seized the opportunity to go find a puppy while my Dad was out of town. It sounds sneaky and it was, but we knew it was the only way we could get a puppy.

We arrived at the breeders house late a night with a friend and my nephew, Jordan who was just a baby. If memory serves, I wanted a girl- but Mr. Tigs was the only black and tan doxie left. He fit in the palm of my hand! I was in love...........little did I know about time and commitment (and rewards and love) of having a dog.

It's almost been 14 years since that day and we've been through a lot. Graduating High School, starting College, moving away from home, falling in love, falling out of love........falling in love again, graduating college, moving back home, graduate school, moving to California (and flying on the plane many times to visit home), getting married, moving back home to Oregon, living downtown in a fancy pants apartment and finding our final home (did I mention adding a crazy Beaglier puppy to our lives a few months ago).

Tigger has been paralyzed twice, each time undergoing back surgery to regain use of his legs. His back legs went out at age 7 and his front legs went out at age 11. Which brings us to today. Mr. Tigs was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma Cancer (spleen cancer), which is a very aggressive, terminal form of cancer. For him, surgery is not an option at his age (14 on September 25th). So, while I'm not usually as bright a perky about this cancer thing as this entry appears........I've decided to focus on the good and make his life enjoyable (did I mention he asks totally "normal"?).

So, we begin Mr. Tigs Bucket List. His chance to do everything he wants (or we want him) to do.
